The U.S. airline United Airlines will link New York with Tenerife for the third consecutive year through a direct flight, and on this occasion, it will do so with an extension of its duration. Thus, the connection between the airports of Newark (New Jersey) and Tenerife South will start operating next June 1 and will last at least until the end of March 2025, reports the Tenerife Cabildo, which adds that, with three weekly frequencies in each direction, it will offer a total of 23,400 seats during that period.

The Vice President and Councilor for Tourism of the Cabildo, Lope Afonso, said in a statement that this is "undoubtedly one of the most important news of the year in terms of air connectivity" because it represents "a unique opportunity to consolidate the destination in one of the most desired issuing markets that best suits the quality profile for which we have been betting on our strategy of sustainable management of the destination, for its interest in the values of the island and our cultural offer, and for its spending power in the destination".

The Vice President and Councilor for Tourism of the Cabildo, Lope Afonso, and the CEO of Turismo de Tenerife, Dimple Melwani,
For the CEO of Turismo de Tenerife, Dimple Melwani, "the extension of the direct connection between Newark and Tenerife South, is a great opportunity for Tenerife in a market whose interest in the island continues to grow and where we have observed in recent years a growth of travelers from the United States and Canada indirectly in the winter months".

Melwani adds that "the extension of the direct flight for the winter is great news for the island, and is of vital importance to successfully implement Tenerife's strategy of accessing better target markets with longer stays and spending capacity at destination, and for the business opportunities that can be generated for Tenerife in different sectors: audiovisual, MICE, green energy, digital economy, innovation, among others."

The United service will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from the United States, and Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays from Tenerife during the summer season.
United Airlines Country Sales Manager Spain, Antonio de Toro, says, "As the only airline connecting North America to the Canary Islands, we are delighted to return to Tenerife with significantly expanded service that now includes the winter season, offering our customers on both sides of the Atlantic even greater travel options. Customers can take advantage of a direct connection to and from the U.S., as well as an unmatched route network from United's New York/Newark hub, offering convenient, nonstop connections to destinations throughout the Americas."
